One of the more familiar refrains in temporal hymns repeats, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me” (Psalm 51:10-11, NKJV).
What a wonderful cry to make unto the Lord! As I read this, I perceive a sincerity in heart to be one with God. I see one who has harmed self, others, and their Creator by personal sin and desires to return to the Lord justified through a contrite heart. This is made possible by the nature of a loving God, One who desires all men to come into a similar mindset willing to set aside self and capture the reward embedded in Christ alone (1 Timothy 2:4).
That is the accomplishment of the process, but how does it begin? A person must reflect on what has been taught and which is correct (Matthew 26:75). Then make the information personal to their plight (Galatians 2:20). Recognizing their lost condition and making haste to resolve. Unfortunately, some do not see the need in being reconciled to their God and to their neighbor. But as it does occur, the angels in Heaven rejoice as we all should (Luke 15:10). As we migrate throughout the day, let’s cast a large net, seeking those outside to become renewed in the presence of a steadfast God. Think about these things.
