Parcels from the Preacher: May 19, 2024

The Apostle James once recorded, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror” (James 1:22-23, NKJV).

This mandate is reminiscent to his Brother’s teaching while He was physically on his earth. Jesus had encouraged His disciples to LIVE the Word, not simply teach them (John 13:17). Our Lord often regarded discipleship as more action than simple acknowledgment in words. We should as well. Those of us who claim to love must display this comprehension in godly deeds (John 14:15).

When one stares into the “mirror” of life and only sees self, often only “serves” self; regarding others as less worthy and become treated as such. What if God had not “seen” us? (Romans 5:8). Would there be a mirror for me to look in and see my sins, then have them washed away? YES, there should be a self-reflective mirror which exposes our unworthiness. But at some juncture we should “over our shoulder” past this same mirror and “see” others suffering like us and then offer them the words of life, praying the entire time they might be receptive as myself. God so loved the WORLD; I am not the only person in the mirror (Luke 24:47).

Think about those things,
