In 2002, President George W. Bush proposed his infamous “No child left behind” initiative. The basic principle behind this reform was the commitment of the masses to literacy and education based on availability. He reasoned that any child living within the confines of these United States should be given the opportunity to have the “richest” life possible and not be restricted because of their individual circumstance. I think that this makes for a great principle. Education is the key to a good life; one that holds a unique reward and promise to all who engage in the “American Dream”.
But what about our Heavenly dream? What about the commission of every NT Christian to bring Biblical literacy and education of God to the world? (NKJV, Mark 16:15-16). Jesus taught us that His Father has “many mansions” (John 14:2) set aside for those who desire Heaven more than any other place. Accessible but challenging to obtain if we are unsure of the way. This, my friend, is why we hold a more significant commission than in public or private school education. This life is temporal, and it will take a “Berean-like” effort to know the scriptures so that we might be pleasing unto Him and He can make heaven our home one day. For example, God informs Hosea to tell Israel that His people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Why were the people facing destruction? Had God not made His will understood to mankind, then lost it, or destroyed it forever? Was the knowledge written in such a manner as to be indiscernible and no one could transcribe? Maybe the knowledge had been atop some lofty mount or lying in a great trench unable to be reached by human hands? That would not prove to be a loving God (Isaiah 59:1). God has always made known His will and desire for creation. Let’s revitalize NCLB, ensuring “No Christian Left Behind.” (Luke 15:4-7).
All needed is a sincere study of the Bible and acceptance of His word, which will save a man’s soul (James 1:21). What an amazing Father who cares so much that He would make sure that the path to life is clear and accessible to all who are willing to obey! God calls each Christian to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18) … an immense challenge. Imagine Christendom filled with earnest souls living for Christ because they have studied God’s word and have endeared it unto their hearts! God’s people are commanded to study (2 Timothy 2:15), to understand that it is by His mind (2 Timothy 3:16-17), to love it more than worldly possessions (1 Thessalonians 5:21), and never to change that which is complete (Revelations 22:18-19). Think on these things.
God Bless,
