Less than 100 years ago, the Louisiana General Assembly became the location for an argument over First Amendment Rights, “creation science,” and the theory of evolution. Edwards v Aguillard (1986) argued for the “Balanced Treatment for Creation-Science and Evolution-Science in Public School Instruction Act.” In other words, what will be taught in public schools regarding government funding and curricula? The answer was simple: in a 7-2 decision, the court announced that “if either topic was to be addressed, evolution or creation, teachers were obligated to discuss the other as well” (Oyez, docket 85-1513, 2025).
Some of us may not understand the gravity of the question at hand. Neither do we grasp the severity of their decision. Our judicial system has rendered that children MUST be taught error and truth if any teaching is necessary! Imagine being made mandatory to instruct a young mind in stating, “My child, poison is just as curative as medicine.” No honest, loving, reasoning parent would ever state this; at least, I HOPE they would not dare instruct a young, innocent mind into this false sense of perception.
But isn’t this what is happening? Less than 200 years ago, Darwin’s On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection was published. From this, many in the scientific community refuted our grand origin in God by choosing a faultier design. The Bible informs mankind in that we came from God (Genesis 1:26, NKJV). We were formed in love as the greatest of Creation (Genesis 1:31). Of all nature formed upon the Earth, we (mankind) were the only factions designed in our Designer’s very image (Genesis 1:27). Thus, it is incumbent for all to understand our lives and commission cannot be rendered down to a simple Circuit or Federal Court judgment. We are responsible towards the One Who made us (Joshua 24:16). Our pulpits must maintain the noble stance in the Scriptures on preaching “Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). How is this important? Because Jesus was there from the Beginning (John 1:1), He is vital to every aspect of our humanity (Colossians 1:16). Without Him, we would be nothing (Acts 17:28). Children are at school for roughly 8 hours and the rest of the day potentially spent with us, who should have the more significant influence? (Proverbs 22:6) Let’s save our children by reminding them that their origin is with God, not man. Think about those things,
