The Apostle Paul once stated, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to
men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the
Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24, NKJV).
The Holy Spirit reminds all NT Christians to labor for righteousness’ sake. This is often difficult
due to the lived experiences based on reward/punishment system seen all over the world. For
example, many of us grow up in a society which incentivizes dishonest behavior. It is difficult to
overlook how those in the world “appear” to move up the corporate ladder by dishonest means
for dishonest gain and not become tempted to mimic like behavior. Those who comprise the
household of faith should endeavor to live beyond this notion (Romans 7:6).
Regardless of what occurs in this life, profit or loss, members of the Lord’s church must all
stand and give testimony of how we lived in this present life (Romans 2:16). As we regard the
coming judgment, would we better benefit off by reward in this life or the next? The resonant
point on this matter is we all are free to choose. God only advises us to choose wisely. Think
about these things.
