As previously stated in the article entitled “All the Generations, from Abraham to David,” I alluded to my position that only one Gospel can save a man’s soul from an eternal death separated from God (Luke 8:12, NJKV). Mark’s account of the Gospel record leaves little room for the structure familiar to the Jew but relies heavily upon a narrative more amenable to a Gentile audience. For example, Jesus heals a little girl, proving He was Christ and had equal authority over life and death (Mark 5:41). In His command, He states, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” His charge incorporates Aramaic, a language known to more than His Jewish brethren, possibly noting purpose for those outside of a biological union (Khan, 2015).
Therefore, we should be assured that the Gospel was made for all. Jesus’ earthly ministry was not denied but was designed to encompass the entire world (Isaiah 62:2). So, what is the design in the Holy Spirit having recorded the message of Jesus differently for the Gentile than what was offered to the Jew? First, a Gentile would possibly not have received the historical framework given to the Jew (Matthew 1:1). Second, we have been taught to teach people as they can comprehend (Mark 12:37). There is no advantage or disadvantage from the language or associated illustrations one group versus another. The most significant difference is that Jesus’ miraculous healing was demonstrated by supernatural means. Notice the terms related to most of these events, such as “immediate” or “immediately” (36 times in the NKJV). Unlike misguided efforts to work miracles today, Jesus sustained His deity with authority, which continues to confound this day! Regardless, two things remain. One, the common goal of the Gospel is to save! We are to proclaim it freely and to desire to spread the matter (Mark 16:15-16) constantly.
Thus, delivering the message in a palatable manner based on the most advantageous way for the listener is imperative (1 Timothy 3:16). Two, the authority of Jesus Christi is incomparable to any other throughout history. This power was shown to be a great calculus to the Gentile. Each of these matters directly asserts Jesus as Lord. This is the only proclamation warranted for salvation. Think about it.
God Bless,
