The Book of John serves the unique purpose of signaling to all humanity that “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” The key verses of the work illuminate this by stating, “And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:30- 31, NKJV). Similarly, Peter expressed on the Day of Pentecost, “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36b). Yet too often well-meaning people and many who claim to Christianity, do not hold Jesus in this significant light, and unfortunately never will be due to the fact they do not believe (John 3:18).
Condemnation falls at the feet of those who have not and will never trust that the testimony of this book is true. People readily accepted the miracles as true (John 2:23). Various persons viewed Jesus as a great prophet (John 4:19). Further still, those of a certain heart also trusted that He was their King (John 12:13-15). Nonetheless, a historically minimal number of saints acknowledged Jesus as their Promise, Passion, and Propitiation of their souls! The Bible states, “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24). The Apostle Paul declares the reason for this testimony, “I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:1a-2).
God decided He would save the world by the preached message (1 Corinthians 1:21). He then delivered it unto those who are faithful in speaking the same thing to others in an effort of kindness towards their salvation (2 Timothy 2:2). Unfortunately, too often, we would rather read another genre, watch the Hollywood version, or entertain by the “translation” given to me by a trusted advisor, than simply read it for ourselves and come to the completeness which God informed us that we could have (2 Timothy 3:16-17). What makes the testimony of this book true? God, and only God (Matthew 11:25-27). I pray that we all learn to accept what is so, for our salvation.
Think about these things, and God Bless,
