The Prequel

How significant is the backstory to our favorite movie, comic book, and Western novella characters? Would it be foreign to assume we can make out all the needed insight of our genre heroes if not for the prequel? Meaningful preludes enhance the core narrative by strengthening the overall comprehension of the main character. Without this VITAL information, we would often be lost on the substantial understanding of the WHY of this unique figure. If this is true for the fictitious Superman, Black Panther, and Luke Skywalker, how much more so is the need for TRUTH as it pertains to the factual Christ?

Periodically, it seems we are infinitely consumed by the storytelling in fables versus the need to understand God’s amazing truth in revealing His Son through the prophetic Word! Bro Foy E. Wallace once stated, “There is this to be remembered about the prophecies—they either had reference to the first coming of Christ or to the second coming of Christ, but whatever the prophecy meant at the time spoken or written, that is what that prophecy had to mean for all time to come. There is no such thing as the postponement of a prophecy. The idea that a prophet of God could speak a prophecy at a certain time, and in later centuries his prophecies be changed as to meaning and time of fulfillment from what the prophecy meant when spoken or written, is in compatible with the integrity of the prophet, inconsistent with the meaning of prophecy and is impossible in the very nature of things” (God’s Prophetic Word, 1946, p. 60).

Notice how Brother Wallace distinguishes the need to understand NOT ONLY the “Old, old, story”, but that it came from God, the source of all righteousness! And without it, there is no COMPLETE acceptance of God’s glory in the lives of those who state they love and follow Him. That which is the “former” teaches us how the Christ lived upon the earth (Acts 1:1, NKJV). Similarly, this prequel relays how sacrifice without Jesus was not significant in and of itself to free mankind from sin (Hebrews 7:18). Thus, by prophecy, when Moses, the Law, and the prophets “spoke”, they each demonstrated a heavenly insight into what was to come after…SALVATION through the blood of Jesus (John 12:32). Unlike the story of Kal-El, this story is true and holds a more significant finale. This prequel has no superior for the prophetic word holds no peer (Matthew 5:18).

Think about these things,
