There are insurmountable concerns when someone attends to their primary care physician and states, “There is a problem”. A multiplicity of fears “bubble up” towards our conscious minds, quickly assessing our mortality, vitality, and connection to this world. Regardless of the diagnosis, we are often relegated to the notion that our time and influence may be somewhat compromised. The morbidity of internal bodily issues can be daunting. Would that and should that not be our response to internal problems among members of the Body?
When the Bible, our Doctor’s prognosis, notates an issue among the Brethren, what should be our course of action? First, like a physical body, the Church periodically falls to its members’ natural and inert failure. Paul stated, “ For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you” (1 Corinthians 1:11, NKJV). The Holy Spirit acknowledges that even Christians may have issues with their fellow man. Even though these disputes are natural, they must not be a portion of the Christian behavior (Romans 7:6). Those coming out of the world and into Christ are not separated from their previous worldviews, mindsets, or habitually ill behavior. Second, how committed are you to “being a part of the solution, and not being a part of the problem?” Developing a passion and pathway in Christ-like conduct may take years of concentrated energy (Ephesians 4:17). Along the way, an assortment of issues may occur with self and others. Internal division may be caused by “old habits” that alter and prohibit personal growth (Romans 7:15).
Additionally, contention with my Brethren can surface and separate unnecessarily (2 Corinthians 12:20). The solution has always been and will always be the same…Jesus! Paul states, “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way” Romans 14:12-13. Like the human body, members, organs, and processes often fail over time. The measure of wellness lends to how quickly division (illness) is recognized, diagnosed, and adequately treated. No one likes to be sick, but sickness often warns of a more considerable and significant loss. The balance comes as each located work understands first and foremost what “healthy” looks and feels like. Only then can a Body be sustained from division, which ultimately destroys it. Embrace the occasional illness; it marks an opportunity to FURTHER glorify the Lord, who is the Great Physician; only He can make all things right (Mark 7:37).
Think about these things,
