The ancient civilization of Egypt must have been amazingly distinguishable from almost every other culture. The people of Egypt changed the landscape in medicine, architecture, art, religion, astronomy, etc. The Egyptians fashioned one of the most significant periods in human history.
Standing at the apex of these cultures was Pharaoh, the “god-king”, the epitome of man according to Egyptian lore. Pharaoh was not a name but a title, meaning “great house”. He was given this distinction due to his responsibility as the political and religious leader for the people. Pharaoh stood as the “go-between” for god and mankind. He held supreme power, dispensed kingdom justice, and was responsible for the well-being of the people.
Sound familiar? The Scriptures dictate that Pharaoh’s fame and reach were exceeded by only one, The Great God of Heaven! Egypt, the Pharaoh of Moses, and the Israelites all needed to understand where true power lay. “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11, NKJV). Pharaoh was a great house to Egypt, but God desired the entire world to understand that there was an even grander house, which he was devising for all men on Earth to become a part of. God’s intent has been clearly stated: “But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth” (Exodus 9:16).
God’s plan for man’s salvation has always incorporated simplicity. Show mankind His face (Exodus 6:1-8). Give humanity the choice of surrendering and proving their love towards Him or dying (Exodus 14:12). Complete His promise to those faithful and true regardless of opposition (Psalm 119:90).
The house of God will never be subdued by houses built by men (Psalm 127:1). This is why we can be assured, regardless of nation, kingdom, or empire, that a person can serve the right King today and be blessed eternally in His House (Matthew 16:18). Christ oversees His house. More significant than any pharaoh, He holds supreme power, distributes His justice, and cares for HIS faithful (1 Timothy 3:15). He indeed invites one and all to be citizens of the Kingdom today!
Think about these things,
