Promises, Promises, Promises

Promises, Promises, Promises

When a person thinks of promises, they often may refer to promises kept and promises deferred. For the average human being, we share a common travail in persistently failing each other in keeping promises. Additionally, we would probably be rather united in our disappointment when promises go unfulfilled. Thus, the tyranny of life and love. I have often incorporated this phrase into my revelations in human nature: “People mean well, but do not do well”. Please remember to give me credit! What I mean by this is that we, as a creation, are fallible: inclined to fail. This, in and of itself, does not determine the magnitude of failed promises. It is the intent behind the action. We fail because we are weak (Matthew 26:41, NKJV). We fail because we are disingenuous (2 Corinthians 4:2). We repeatedly fail due to limited efforts in transforming our lives into a more consistent pattern resembling the Christ (1 Peter 2:21). We can learn much from the promises He kept, because He patterned Himself after the Father of All Promises: God. He promised freedom from sin and death (Genesis 3:15). His promise was fulfilled in Jesus. The Holy Spirit leads Luke to record, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). Those obedient to THIS promise not only benefit from it but remain comforted throughout their life in Christ (Hebrews 13:5).

This is not due to man. This is not completed by the will of man. It is accomplished in the FACT that God Himself CANNOT lie. The Hebrew writer records God’s promise (commitment) to Abraham, “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” (Hebrews 6:13-14). Remember, the promise of salvation? God stated that the entire world would be blessed through Father Abraham (Genesis 12:3). That promise, according to the Scriptures, has been made unchangeable (Hebrews 6:17) and guaranteed (Hebrews 6:18).

‘m sure it is difficult to place faith or belief in a man who WILL at some point limit faith by failing himself or others, but let us together avoid thinking God works on similar principles. He DOES NOT. He is God. He does not lie. He is NOT like man (Numbers 23:19). As Brother Wayne Jackson states, even “The Promise Keepers are not the answer” (What’s Wrong with the Promise Keepers Movement? | Christian Courier). Too many men, professing Christ, “joined” this earthly organization, claiming it to be “Christian”. Place your faith where it belongs, in God. For He keeps His promises; that is what makes Him God. And that is what makes His promises to us assured. Think about these things, and God Bless.
