Fear of Declining Memberships

Fear of Declining Memberships

“Part of a functional and successful workplace is ensuring that everyone fulfills the responsibilities of their role. Being on time and coming to work consistently is important regardless of your position” (Indeed Career Guide, February 2025). Isn’t it interesting how the world recognizes the significance of being present? Is it not noteworthy how we can readily explain to our children how we MUST be at work to maintain a valued reputation and a balanced income with the company who issues forth my salary on a static basis? Attendance and proficient knowledge in how to be successful in our chosen fields do not escape the everyday sequence that motivates us to “drag ourselves” from our slumber Monday through Friday and periodically Saturday and Sunday as well! The motive and follow-through prove what is in our hearts.

Would anyone disagree that ensuring I am engaged as a community member isn’t crucial to a grand degree? Should it be any different in the Church? What about the promise we gave to God when we were baptized? Someone might ask, “But Archie, I do not remember making any said promise?” We all make this tantamount statement as we decrease the steps from damnation to salvation when obeying the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, NKJV). Before one can obediently fulfill the Law of Christ, they MUST confess Jesus as Lord. Thus, a person is willing to die to self and take on the “functional and successful workplace responsibilities of their role” (see above reference: Indeed).

Imagine me signing up for a position with a Fortune 500 entity and never fulfilling the agreement I publicly declared in inking the contract delegations! God forbid! Membership in the Church should never decline when members remember to seek out the will of Him who sent them, which is paramount in their lives. It is not optional. It is not subjective. It is essential to fulfill the promise we made when surrendering to His will over our own (Hebrews 10:24-25). Additionally, God instructs us to love Him and keep His good will. Solomon stated, “Let your heart be loyal to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day” (1 Kings 8:61).

Your membership and mine are essential precepts of Kingdom partnership. No one walks away from their employment in a Fortune 500 company! No one, unless there is something better. And believe me, there is no more excellent privilege than being a member of the Lord’s Body! Please think about these things because you are greatly missed when you are not around!
