Parcels from the Preacher: September 17, 2023

Have you ever been “read the riot act”? It is an actual thing. In the early 18th century, the British government was given the authority to label any group of more than 12 people a threat to the peace. Any person who remained an hour later would be detained. Sound familiar?

As much as any could argue, history has not been kind or consistent in its legislation of foreigners or its citizens. How can a person be labeled a champion and enemy of the state in the same context? This only happens with man, not with God. Heaven’s mandates are eternal and unchanging according to the one-hundred nineteenth of the Psalms. It is immutable and incorruptible as stated in the first of First Peter. When we assemble, it should be lawful and orderly, whether it is according to the Scriptures as we find in the tenth of Hebrews or if petitioning some man-made doctrine, we do not agree with. What manner of man should we be? Obviously, not someone who could be chastised by the world. The NT Christian is not unruly; please think on this.

Have the day you are meant to have in Christ alone,

Archie R. Green
